At Greenshire, we believe humans have the potential to become one with the animals, to be part of a sustainable food web and living environment by working with Nature, to respect and care for each other and all life, to put ego aside and create a sustainable future for all.
On October 1 and 2, 2011, we were again one of the destinations for the City of Kawartha Lakes’ annual Farmfest self-directed driving tour. We had 70 visitors on Saturday. The weather was not so cooperative on Sunday, but 18 bravehearts came for tours and demos in the afternoon when the rain let up. You can see some photos here.
GRAND OPENING SUNDAY, MAY 20th! If you missed Farmfest, we will be offering agri-tainment tours on weekends in 2012: Sundays 11am-5pm, and by appointment (for school and other field trips, etc.). See our unique permaculture gardens, natural horsemanship demonstrations, an introduction to equine-assisted learning (non-riding personal development for people!), Shiitake mushroom log operation, butterfly garden (soon), and meet our pet potbellied pigs Smiley and Gloria. We will have pony rides for the kids and synthetic-chemical-free produce for sale. Admission is by donation, with a minimum $5.00 per person or $18/four people.
